Interior

Throughout the Discovery 55, there are thoughtful and intelligent details. Styled by the renowned superyacht interior designer Ken Freivokh, the well-coordinated interior of the Discovery 55 imparts a light and airy feel with excellent ventilation. The interior has the feel of an elegant home, which looks magnificent in harbour and yet really comes into its own at sea.

It is in the layout of the main saloon that the Discovery 55 is truly different from other yachts.  The unique panoramic view offered by the raised seating area is paralleled by the sheer logic of raising the navigation station. With a plotter and radar to hand, you can control the autopilot from here - staying warm and dry whilst maintaining a good lookout. Out of the wind, watches are comfortable and restful.

Sylvia is equipped with a TV, freezer, full standing fridge, 3-zone airconditioning, central heating system, towel heaters and much more to increase comfort while aboard.

Exterior

Sylvia is build to cross oceans. The deck is moulded in GRP with a balsa core to provide strength and insulation, while kevlar reinforcements are present on the bow.  The deck incorporates a locker in the transom and two lazarette lockers, a self-draining gas locker, locker amidships, a large sail locker forward, and a self-draining chain locker at the bow.

The deck is all teak and a fold-out bathing ladder is built into the bottom transom step.

With all-electric Andersen stainless steel winches and electric Reckmann furlers on the genoa and jib, sailing Sylvia is effortless. Equipped with a self-tacking jib, upwind sailing is a breeze and requires no handling.

Once on location, you'll enjoy the freedom of anchoring in remote areas with a 100m anchor chain.  To discover the surroundings, you can use a 20HP dinghy. Use the electric davits to lower her and start exploring!
